There has been prior mention of non-FOSS feature inclusion, and we’ve also had input to suggest there’s some discord discussion about limiting features in the future to commercial offerings, although there does not appear to be anything live in regard to this at time of review. Such non-FOSS features will be possible with their AGPLv3 license since they are requesting contributors to hand over rights via a CLA.

The project was founded by prior ByteDance employees, and appears to have raised at least $6.4m from a range of investors which include OSS Capital, HongShan, Bob Young, Steve Chen, Tom Preston-Werner, Justin Hoffman, Preetha Parthasarathy, Amr Awadallah, Clint Smith, David Mytton, Matt Mullenweg, Kevin Xu, Peer Richelsen, Paul Copplestone, Arkadiusz Zarowski and Maneesh Sharma. The project also appears to gain revenue from providing hosted variations of their app, and from accepting donations via Ko-fi.
