Details

The core of the project is provided under an Apache license. ClickHouse also advertises a hosted (non-FOSS) “ClickHouse Cloud” offering which adds various features upon the core.

The project provides a clear comparison of the open and cloud offerings within their documentation.

The project sometimes refers to the FOSS offering as “ClickHouse OSS” or “OSS ClickHouse”, but most of the time it generally refers to itself as “ClickHouse”.

The project advertises “ClickHouse” generally as open source in various prominent locations including on their homepage, but sometimes these overlap with information which does not appear to be relevant for their open source variant. For example, on their homepage in a “Why ClickHouse?” section they prominently advertise as “Open Source” alongside “ClickHouse Cloud” specific features such as their integration and compliance offerings.

The project has raised at least $1.05B of funding from investors which include Dragoneer Investment Group, Bessemer Venture Partners, GIC, Index Ventures, Khosla Ventures, BOND, Benchmark, Coatue, FirstMark, Nebius and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The project also appears to gain revenue from selling their “ClickHouse Cloud” service.
