Docmost
Collaborative wiki and documentation software
Details
Code for the project source is mostly provided under an AGPLv3 license, although parts of the codebase are provided under a custom non-FOSS “Docmost Enterprise Edition license”.
The top-level license file only contains the AGPLv3 license, and makes no mention of the other licensing involved in the project, although it is mentioned in a section of the readme.
From a quick search it appears that many parts of the AGPLv3 code rely upon non-FOSS parts of the codebase.
In the project’s docs, it does well to clearly state which features are part of the (non-FOSS) Enterprise Edition of the software.
The project generally markets itself as “open source”, including in their GitHub repo, blog and in their documentation. In the project’s comparisons with other software they include “Open Source” as a feature of the software, while also listing their non-FOSS features in the same comparison, without qualification or license/FOSS-status context.
Licensing concerns were raised with the project, with no response at time of writing over a year later.
The project is managed by Docmost, Inc., and it appears to be funded by selling licenses for the enterprise edition.
